Romiと会話をするためには、無線LAN環境と、iPhone/Android/iPad/タブレットの専用アプリが必要です。※ IEEE802.11b/g/n準拠 (2.4 GHz)。オープンネットワークには接続ができません。推奨通信速度は10Mbps以上です。Romiの設定及び会話をおこなうには、常時インターネット接続が必要です。ルーターで接続デバイスのフィルタリングをしている場合やネット回線やWi-Fiが不安定な場合は設定が完了しないことやRomiが反応しないこともございます。その際はネットワーク管理者もしくはRomiのお問い合わせ窓口にご連絡ください。
またRomiと会話するためには、月会費の申込※も必要です。※3ヶ月無料で、その後月980円（税込1,078円）かかります。
