THE ROLLING STONES/ CHRONICLE=FULLY FINISHED STUDIO OUTTAKES=(REVISED AND REMASTERED) EXPANDED EDITION[4CD] MASTERPIECE MPA21001CD1/2/3/4
In 2021, a shocking collection of previously unreleased studio outtakes titled "FULLY FINISHED STUDIO OUTTAKES" caused a sensation among Stones collectors worldwide. Based on recording data, these outtakes were reconstructed in chronological order, with additional sources added, and underwent sound restoration and improvement. This expanded revised edition "Chronicle" is a 4-disc set released by the GOLDPLATE-affiliated label "MASTERPIECE."
- Contains all 69 tracks across 4 CDs in an expanded edition- Reconstructed in chronological order with detailed recording data including year, location, and version- Features the latest remastering for sound restoration and an updated, original editing- Includes 7 tracks from the latest leaked sources not included in the original release
From the vast archive of unreleased studio recordings accumulated over the long career of The Rolling Stones, these "completely finished studio outtakes" suddenly surfaced and became a hot topic. The original 3-CD European-produced set "FULLY FINISHED STUDIO OUTTAKES," which compiled 50 previously unheard tracks from 1967 to 2002—most of which had never been heard before—is already difficult to obtain. Although copies on CDR circulated later, the original release contained recordings that were shockingly raw, with random chronological order, inaccurate data, and some noise or cuts.
This expanded revised "Chronicle" version reconstructs the tracks in chronological order, starting from the 1967 "Satanic Majesties" period, including notable tracks such as "IT'S ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL" (demo with David Bowie), "TOO MANY COOKS" (with John Lennon), "SCARLET" (with Jimmy Page), and others. It corrects misinformation from the original release, provides detailed recording data (year, location, version), and makes the collection easier to reference.
Sound quality has been improved with restoration of subtle noise issues like the initial skip in "STRICTLY MEMPHIS," "BLOOD RED WINE," "DEEP LOVE," "IVY LEAGUE," and others. The remastering enhances clarity and overall sound quality beyond the original.
In addition to the original 50 tracks, disc 4 adds 19 new tracks, including 12 from the 2002 "40 Licks" sessions, which were only partially included in the original release. Furthermore, 7 tracks from the latest leaked sources, previously unavailable in the original, are remastered and included. This makes the collection a highly recommended, expanded collector’s item with a different remastering approach from the original release!
