【Rinshō-in (Kasuga Tayu Tomb)】This temple is famous for being the location of the tomb of Kasuga Tayu, the wet nurse of the third shogun of the Edo shogunate, Iemitsu. It is situated at the end of a narrow alley slightly off Kasuga Street, which has heavy vehicle traffic. Passing through the mountain gate and entering the grounds, you feel as if you are in a different world. The tranquil grounds, covered with trees, are so peaceful that one might think they are in Kyoto.
Kasuga Tayu's tomb is located in the back left part of the cemetery, where there are also small Jizo statues lined up nearby. Additionally, this site is the founding place of Toyo University, which is currently located in Hakusan. This illustration is recommended for fans of Yushima Hongō.
