The new PS3, released this time, has undergone structural review and new design and engineering of its components, achieving a size reduction of less than 50% and weight reduction compared to the initial model (HDD 60GB model). It also achieves a 25% size reduction and 20% weight reduction compared to the current model (CECH-3000 series).
The console features a slide-open disc cover and a simple design that utilizes PS3's characteristic curved form, allowing it to be placed unobtrusively in various locations.
Users can place the new PS3 in their preferred location and enjoy a variety of entertainment content, including games. The HDD models have significantly expanded storage capacity compared to the current 320GB and 160GB models, allowing users to save and enjoy more games, music, photos, videos, and other content than ever before.
The model equipped with 12GB of flash memory is affordably priced, offering an opportunity for users who have not yet experienced PS3 to easily enter the world of PlayStation.
Furthermore, storage capacity can be easily expanded by attaching the dedicated HDD (250GB)*4, released simultaneously with this product, to the console. Additionally, accessory products such as a vertical stand*5, which allows the new PS3 to be used in a more space-saving manner, are also available to meet the diverse needs of users. In addition to a wide range of software titles, highly anticipated titles such as "Resident Evil 6" (Capcom Co., Ltd.), "Tales of Xillia 2" (Bandai Namco Games Inc.), "Shin Hokuto Musou" (Koei Tecmo Games Co., Ltd.), "Yakuza 5: To the Dreamers" (SEGA Corporation), "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale," "LittleBigPlanet Karting," and "God of War: Ascension (tentative)" (Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.) are scheduled for release leading up to the year-end sales season.
*1 There are no functional differences compared to the CECH-3000 series.
*2 The Classic White PS3 will be sequentially released worldwide, starting with its launch in Japan in November 2012.
*3 In Hong Kong, the 12GB flash memory model will be released.
*4 When using the dedicated HDD, the PS3's internal flash memory cannot be used as main storage.
*5 A dedicated "Vertical Stand" is required to place the new PS3 (CECH-4000 series) vertically.
