- Colored Painting (Enameled)
- Conventional colored painting involves filling in the outlines with solid color, but Kakuzaburō Kiln applies a watercolor-like technique inspired by painting, creating a soft, faintly fragrant appearance.

- Underglaze Blue (Sometsuke)
- Usually, underglaze blue is painted with cobalt pigment, then glazed and fired.
- At Kakuzaburō Kiln, the painting is done on top of the glaze, then fired.
- This causes the cobalt pigment to melt into the softened glaze, resulting in a very smooth finish.
