Yonezawa Hydraulic Press Extraction First-Pressed Rapeseed Salad Oil uses 100% Australian-grown rapeseed as raw material.

It has a distinctive roasted aroma and is a delicious oil with the fresh flavor and richness characteristic of rapeseed.

It is also recommended for frying.

The oil is light and has good pourability, and it is characterized by its resistance to burning even when fried at 180°C.

Rapeseed oil is rich in essential fatty acids such as oleic acid, linolenic acid, and linoleic acid. These support the absorption of vitamins.

The oil is extracted using a natural pressing method and refined through a proprietary hot water washing process (patented). No petroleum-based products are used during manufacturing.

＜Yonezawa Oil’s Three Commitments＞

1. We use non-GMO raw rapeseed.

Japan imports approximately 2.4 million tons of rapeseed annually. The main importing countries are Canada and Australia, with about 90% being genetically modified (GMO) rapeseed (93% from Canada, 22% from Australia). (※) Until 1997, we used Canadian rapeseed, but after GMO cultivation began there, we switched to Australian rapeseed. However, GMO cultivation also started in Australia, so now we contract with farmers who grow non-GMO crops and purchase only rapeseed that is managed separately at each stage of cultivation and distribution (IP handling).

2. We aim to increase domestic production and expand cultivation areas.

Domestic rapeseed production has recovered to over 3,000 tons annually. It is a useful crop that requires little effort to cultivate, and after planting, the fields often see improved growth of other crops and increased yields. However, production will not increase without a use for it. Our company purchases and presses about 70% of domestic rapeseed production (2,250 tons), supporting farmers and striving to improve self-sufficiency.

3. No chemical synthetic agents or food additives are used in the manufacturing process.

Typical salad oils are produced using a combination of pressing and extraction methods. The extraction method involves the use of n-hexane (a petroleum-related product) to dissolve residual oil from the raw materials after pressing as much as possible. During refining, phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, caustic soda, and activated white clay are used for efficient purification. Our company only uses mechanical pressing and refines the oil with a patented hot water washing method, without adding silicone (antifoaming agents) or other chemicals.

※ Depending on the quality of the raw seeds, natural citric acid, activated charcoal, and acidic white clay (raw clay) may be used in the refining process.

Nutritionally balanced plant oil: "Rapeseed Oil"

Oil is composed of multiple fatty acids. Commonly known fatty acids include oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and medium-chain fatty acids.

All these fatty acids are beneficial to the human body. Due to media influence and other factors, intake can become skewed, but there are desirable ratios. According to materials from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, it is recommended to consume fatty acids in the order of ω-9 > ω-6 > ω-3. (※) Olive oil is rich in oleic acid but contains very little linolenic acid. Recently, media coverage has highlighted perilla oil, which contains the least oleic acid that should be consumed. Coconut oil contains too little oleic acid and essential fatty acids. Rapeseed oil contains a balanced ratio of ω-9, ω-6, and ω-3 fatty acids, making it a well-balanced plant oil.
