1979年、名盤JAZZツアーの一環として、キャリア3度目の来日ツアーを行ったQUEEN。全15日程のうち武道館にて5公演（4/13,14,23,24,25)を行いましたが、なんと今回そのうち4公演の音源が発見されました。その音源を "UP FIELD TAPES BUDOKAN" と銘打って各2公演ずつ、全2タイトルで発売。VOL.1には4/14, 4/23の2公演、VOL.2には4/24,4/25の2公演が収録されています。
さらに、音源と共に発掘された当日のチケットのレプリカも付いてきます。
オーディエンス録音で決して高音質とは言えませんが、ロック史上無類のバンドによる貴重な来日公演の記録であり、資料性の高さも鑑みてのリリースです。もちろんオーディエンス録音に慣れているマニアな方なら十分楽しんでいただけますが、コレクターズ・アイテム初心者向けでは無いことをご了承ください。
*ディスク2はマスターの音質が非常に悪くノイズに埋もれ曲が聴き分けられないレベルでしたが、リマスタリングによりなんとか掘り起こし収録しました。ディスク2に関してはあくまで貴重な資料としての収録であり、ボーナス・ディスク程度に考えてください。
