The drawstring pouches are made by "Yotsume Zenshu-sha."
This dyeing studio creates products such as drawstring pouches using traditional Japanese techniques like "katazome" (stencil dyeing) and "tsutsugaki" (freehand drawing with paste) to apply patterns to fabric.

The outer material of the drawstring pouch uses "katazome."
Katazome begins with creating a stencil paper with an original design. This stencil paper is placed on the fabric, and a paste made from ingredients like glutinous rice and bran is brushed on. The areas where the paste is applied will not be dyed, becoming the white parts of the pattern.

Once the paste is dry, dye is applied with a brush. For a single color, it can be done in one go, but for multi-color finishes, the colors are layered one by one, much like painting a picture.

Finally, the paste is washed off with water, revealing the crisp pattern, and once dried, it is complete.

This is how a single piece of fabric is completed through a long process, and then transformed into a drawstring pouch.
