The 16th installment in the series, "Nobunaga's Ambition: Shinsei," features a new experience where vassals act as "living generals" who think and act on their own, supporting the player. The player, as a daimyo, makes decisions on appointing lords, receiving proposals from vassals, and issuing "policies" that have a significant impact on the entire power. This offers a more realistic samurai era daimyo experience and has been well received by many players.

In "Nobunaga's Ambition: Shinsei," vassals develop their own territories (fiefs) when granted land, and when it comes to battle, they lead troops and participate actively—truly acting as "living generals" aiming for national unification alongside the player.
The "Power-Up Kit" further evolves this "unity of lord and vassal" Warring States experience. You can now appoint new "Councilors" such as the "Chamberlain," who influences the overall trend of the power, and the "Bureaucrats," who impact policies.
Additionally, you can enjoy strategic negotiations such as persuading fleeing generals to stay or recruiting them away, mimicking the tactics of the Warring States period through "Direct Negotiation" (Jikidan).

The "Power-Up Kit" introduces a new take on the popular "Siege Battles" from the series.
For the first time in the series, the terrain of a single map is used to create dedicated siege battle maps featuring castles and castle towns that are unique and different each time. This allows for dynamic siege battles beyond just attacking castles.
The attacking side chooses where to break through and which route to approach the castle, while the defending side deploys defenses and plans countermeasures. The castle's defense and attack become more intense, and the outcome can vary greatly depending on the player's tactics.
