[Content Overview]
The grand story of Princess Pyeonggang, whose entire life was devoted to Goguryeo, and the naive young man Ondal, who made his love for Pyeonggang a part of history. It depicts the pure love of two young people who do not succumb to fate.

In 561 AD, during the Three Kingdoms period of Goguryeo, King Pyeongwon, the 25th ruler, had his beloved and wise Queen Yoon, with whom he fathered Princess Pyeonggang and Prince Woon. Pyeonggang dreamed of becoming king someday and dedicated herself to martial arts training to protect the country. However, Ko Wonnpi, a powerful courtier who resented Queen Yoon and held real power, incited the king’s jealousy, leading to Queen Yoon’s death. Pyeonggang then disappeared without a trace. Later, the king learned it was a trap, which drove him into madness and suspicion. Eight years later, the missing Pyeonggang, having lost her memory, was living as an assassin named Kajin.

Meanwhile, Ondal, following his father General On Hyeop’s wish to "live like a fool," was peacefully living in the mountains gathering medicinal herbs, with no connection to martial arts. Fatefully, Kajin and Dal meet and are drawn to each other, but...

■ Kim So-hyun leads a grand historical drama with her acting prowess
Kim So-hyun, who debuted at age 9, has built a career as a talented actress through roles in "Love Alarm," "Kill Me, Heal Me," "Radio Romance," "Love Alarm," and others. She has also made a strong impression in historical dramas like "Moon Embracing the Sun," "Goblin," "The King’s Face," and "Nokdu Flower." At 22, she skillfully portrays a noble, graceful, and captivating heroine in this work.

She also performs her first action scenes, brilliantly playing three roles: Pyeonggang’s mother Queen Yoon, the amnesiac assassin Kajin, and herself. Her performance has garnered new fans and earned her a nomination for the Women’s Best Acting Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2021, she hosted the KBS Drama Awards, winning the Popularity Award and Best Couple Award. She also received the Female Acting Award and Popular Actor Award at the Korea Broadcasting Awards.

■ A highly acclaimed masterpiece appreciated both domestically and internationally
The series was praised for its unwavering script, breathtaking directing, stunning visuals, and excellent casting. Director Yun Sang-ho ("Saimdang, Memoir of Colors," "The Four Gods") and screenwriter Han Jihun ("The Woman with 99 Billion Won") crafted this authentic period drama based on the Korean legend of Princess Pyeonggang and the fool Ondal.

It was nominated for the prestigious International Emmy Awards, considered one of the world’s top three broadcasting awards, and won the Drama Award at the Korea Broadcasting Awards out of 240 entries. Its epic story, reminiscent of "Jumong," features a daring heroine and includes a cameo appearance by Kim Seung-soo, who starred in "Jumong." The tightly woven, fast-paced script and beautiful CGI visuals, costumes, and sets make it a breathtaking experience.

■ Rising star Na In-woo makes a significant breakthrough
This is Na In-woo’s first leading role, playing Ondal. He gained attention in the fusion romantic comedy period drama "Queen Cheorin," where he portrayed a poignant cousin with unrequited love for the queen. He was cast as Ondal after the original lead dropped out unexpectedly, with little preparation time. The director highly praised his sensitivity and quick thinking.

Na In-woo’s sincere and straightforward portrayal of Ondal earned him many nicknames from viewers, such as "Jumbal" (prepared Ondal), "Hohoba" (not sweet Ondal), and "Godbiva" (Goguryeo’s very fool). His performance as a young man who defies fate and pursues pure love led to a nomination for the New Actor Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards and winning the New Actor Award at the KBS Drama Awards. He is expected to continue rising, with his next project being "The Love of the Jinx," directed by Yun Sang-ho and starring Girls’ Generation’s So-hyun.

■ A resilient, clever warrior goddess, Pyeonggang
Princess Pyeonggang is a noble, tough, yet graceful heroine who never forgets to empathize with others. The "fighting heroine" has become increasingly popular, reflecting current trends. Her dynamic and refreshing actions stand out in dramas like "My Name: A Lie and Revenge," "One the Woman," "Sisyphus: The Myth," and "Sweet Home," where top actresses challenge themselves with full-fledged action roles.

Kim So-hyun’s portrayal of Pyeonggang evokes characters like So Seo-no from "Jumong" and "Queen Chaeok" and "Empress Ki." She is not just strong but also deeply connected through her pure love with Ondal, with heartfelt lines and a well-balanced mix of sweetness and toughness that captivate viewers.
