[Synopsis]
Sato Otomatsu has lived his life as a railwayman with unwavering, albeit clumsy, integrity at a small terminal station at the edge of the north. Reflecting on his life, he recalls various regrets concerning his life as a railwayman and his family. One day, a charming young girl appears before him. This encounter, which seemed like an ordinary event, was the beginning of a gentle miracle in his lonely life...

The original work is Jiro Asada's short story "Poppoya," which won the 117th Naoki Prize and became a bestseller. Ken Takakura, a leading Japanese actor, plays the protagonist Otomatsu in this moving story. From the planning stage, it was said that only he could play Otomatsu, and he returned to a Toei film for the first time in approximately twenty years. The cast also includes Shinobu Otake, who co-stars with Takakura for the first time, Ryoko Hirosue, a top idol who symbolized the 90s, Nenji Kobayashi, who has co-starred with Takakura in many films and shares a close friendship, and Ken Shimura, who makes his first full-fledged film appearance. The staff, including director Yasuo Furuhata and cinematographer Daisaku Kimura, who have delivered numerous hit films with Ken Takakura such as "Eki STATION," have vividly depicted the harsh Hokkaido nature with rich poetic imagery. The story of love and miracles is fantastically created without compromising the original image.
