While typical celluloid pens are made by cutting (hollowing out) a square block of celluloid approximately 4cm on each side using a lathe, Platinum Pen uses a process where sliced sheets of layered celluloid material are rolled into a pipe shape, one by one, and then molded into the pen's form. Due to the properties of celluloid as a material, each step requires drying processes.
