The 2000 series Mu-Sky was manufactured by Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. in 2004 (Heisei 16) and was created as a dedicated limited express vehicle for Chubu Centrair International Airport. When the Airport Line opened (Heisei 17), it operated as a 3-car formation, but it currently operates as a 4-car formation.
The 2000 series Mu-Sky features a "blue and white" body color scheme that differs significantly from previous Meitetsu trains, making it instantly recognizable to international visitors as a dedicated airport access vehicle. Furthermore, because the entire front section is covered with polycarbonate transparent resin plates and glass, it leaves a vivid impression as a limited express vehicle.
