The legendary first visit to Japan by Pink Floyd in 1971, the "Hakone Aphrodite" concert. Pink Floyd performed at this large-scale outdoor event, one of the first of its kind in Japan to feature an overseas artist, in a fantastical concert enhanced by the natural setting on the shores of Lake Ashi, Hakone, enveloped in mist from the mountains. It has been passed down as a truly legendary first concert in Japan. Live recordings of this "Hakone Aphrodite," held on August 6th and 7th, 1971, have existed in various forms since the 1970s. While the sound sources themselves were known, this release features a complete recreation of the concert in its entirety using the latest remastered multi-mix stereo sound source, based on restored and meticulously separated/analyzed audio from a selection of these numerous sources by overseas Floyd sound researchers. Many of the original sources were incomplete audience recordings from the time, with unstable and muffled sound quality. However, the latest remastered multi-mix sound source has been reborn into an astonishingly clear and three-dimensional stereo sound. The immersive performance of "Atom Heart Mother," starting with the applause of the opening, can be considered superb quality, comparable to soundboard recordings.

CD 2 contains the complete concert from August 7, 1971, using the latest remastered multi-mix sound source. Additionally, the "Alternate Edit Master" is included. Following Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Circle Game" on the same day, Pink Floyd's four songs feature edited MCs and track order. This is a good quality source, known since the 1970s and used in previous film footage, with its sound quality also upgraded in this remaster.
In addition to the 2 CDs, an "Audiophile DVD" is also included. While it is an audio disc and not a video recording, it features DVD-exclusive audio options allowing for comparison of both the multi-mix sound source and the original source without remastering. By switching audio during playback, the difference in sound becomes immediately apparent. Although not a video, it also includes a slideshow of precious photos from "Hakone Aphrodite" for each song, allowing for enjoyment during playback.
Furthermore, the DVD includes the "Open Reel Master" sound source, which is not on the CDs. This is a separate source from the main concert, known to be a complete recording of only three songs. This source also includes the latest remastered stereo sound source along with the original monaural source.
