It is rarely processed as a gemstone, but is sometimes used for decorative purposes such as accessories, carvings, and ornaments.
The Mohs hardness of Inoshishi-seki (pyrite) is approximately 6 to 6.5.
Although it gives the impression of being soft, it is surprisingly hard ore.

Inoshishi-seki (pyrite) is also produced in Japan.
Major production areas include Iwate Prefecture, especially around Morioka City and Kitakami City, the Tsugaru region of Aomori Prefecture, and the Noto Peninsula of Ishikawa Prefecture, where pyrite is produced.
However, the production volume is not that large, and stones with beautiful patterns like marbled pork are rare.
As it is a natural raw stone, it is irregular and the color is not uniform.
Furthermore, impurities may be mixed in.
