PHOEBE BRIDGERS / LOST WEEKEND (2LP)
Phoebe Bridgers' Highly Anticipated Third Album!
Phoebe Bridgers will release her highly anticipated third album, "Lost Weekend," on August 14th via Dead Oceans. This announcement follows weeks of speculation and surprise "pop-up" live shows across the US, culminating in a sold-out performance at New York's Madison Square Garden earlier this month. Tickets for her newly announced arena tour sold out within hours of going on general sale in North America and the UK. "Lost Weekend" is Bridgers' first album since her Grammy-nominated second album, "Punisher," which was released at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her critically acclaimed debut album, "Stranger in the Alps," released about a month after her 23rd birthday, garnered significant attention for her mature and exceptional talent for her age. "Punisher" then met those expectations, earning near-universal praise. It was a witty, captivating, restrained yet thrilling, and above all, incredibly memorable work from an artist whose meteoric songwriting talent suddenly found perfect harmony with a touring-honed band and a richer, bolder accompaniment. However, those who listen to "Lost Weekend" will discover something even more astonishing – Bridgers is now at the peak of her powers, a true master. She takes nothing more seriously than this creative endeavor, refining many of the motifs that have characterized her previous work in this new release. At the same time, the album is full of surprises at every turn.
Bridgers' last stage appearance before the recent pop-up shows was as part of boygenius, the supergroup with her close friends Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, when they won a Grammy for their 2023 album "the record." The album won "Best Alternative Music Album," and the track "Not Strong Enough" won both "Best Rock Song" and "Best Rock Performance." Ultimately, Bridgers left that night as the artist with the most awards. She also won "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" for her feature on SZA's song "Ghost in the Machine" from the album "SOS." Prior to that, she served as an opening act for Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour." Even before that, she embarked on her own solo tour, "Reunion Tour," for nearly two years, selling out all dates across three legs in North America. She also completed 30 shows in Europe and concluded with successful performances in South America, Asia, and Australia. Online and on TV, she delivered some of the sharpest and most memorable visual performances of recent years, including NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" and "Saturday Night Live." Since her last solo album, she has also released numerous singles, covers, and collaborations with artists such as Paul McCartney, MUNA, Bright Eyes, The 1975, Lorde, Taylor Swift, and The National.
Standard Edition, Black Vinyl.
