In November 2020, they announced the digital single "beach Q" from UK.PROJECT's new label "highlight," and after that, they steadily released more works, gaining attention mainly through music streaming services and SNS.
peanut butters will release their first album "peanut butters," compiling 6 previous singles plus new songs, on Wednesday, September 22.
This album features a collection of songs characterized by catchy melodies and lo-fi pop-rock sounds that make anyone instantly feel "kyaa" (heart-flutter). It is a work that will surely resonate with a wide range of listeners, from those who love US indie rock, which is the roots of composer Nishihara, to VOCALOID fans.
Furthermore, contrary to the pop and cute elements conveyed through vocals, melodies, and visuals, the lyrics are "a little negative," and this exquisite balance is also a characteristic of peanut butters.
Among the previously released songs, there is the powerful hit tune M2 "Tsunamayo-nezu (band ver.)" which overlays pop melodies on Nishihara's indie rock roots, and the refreshing guitar-driven summer anthem M3 "Wave Riding Nammy," as well as emotionally evocative tracks like M5 "Yuyake Hello Work," which evoke "melancholy," "nostalgia," and "loneliness" that tighten the chest, offering a rich variety of lineups.
Additionally, the songs included from this album feature a powerful garage-like drum sound paired with strong guitar sounds reminiscent of Weezer, such as M4 "Power Pop Soda," and songs that maximize the ethereal floating vocals of support vocalist Kono Mei, overflowing with "gentleness," like M7 "Gentle Feelings." Also included is M8 "Peanut Butter 2021," which is an arrangement of the song "Peanut Butter" from their first self-released EP, with an impressive synth phrase at the intro.
For M4 and M8, engineer Teru Ishige, known for his work with the telephones and Yap!!!, was involved.
Until now, releases were only available digitally, but this album will be the first physical release, with CD sales at live venues and some stores, and fans are already expressing their joy on SNS.
Furthermore, the release event "Peanut Night" held at Shindaita FEVER on Monday, September 20 (public holiday), sold out immediately, showing their rising popularity.
