The "Shiawase no Mon'yō" (Patterns of Happiness) series is an original design by Fuwa Market, created in collaboration with textile designers, focusing on the "wish for happiness" inherent in traditional Japanese patterns.
One of the series, Nanten (Japanese holly), is a plant long cherished as a talisman for "warding off evil" and "avoiding misfortune."
These auspicious motifs are modernly designed to harmonize with contemporary lifestyles.
✔ Dedicated craftsmanship: Carefully finished one by one at a specialized Kyoto box-making factory
✔ Modern traditional patterns: Six types of patterns available in two colors each, offering a variety of choices
✔ Excellent practicality: Ideal as an accessory case, tool box, or small item storage
✔ Perfect for high-quality gifts: Convey your special feelings with the "Patterns of Happiness"
A reliable one-box solution that neatly contains what you need.
The box cases are the perfect size to hold various stationery items such as scissors, calculators, glue, and cutters.
With a sturdy box structure, they protect the contents and can be used for a long time.
Beyond stationery, they can be creatively used as accessory cases, cosmetic cases, sewing boxes, gadget cases, and more.
Just owning one provides a sense of comfort—"I can quickly find what I need" and "my desk or bag stays tidy."
They are like companions that help reduce small daily stresses.
**Beautifully Designed Inside and Out**
We pay attention to the beauty when opened, using hand-dyed Washi paper with Nanten patterns on the inner bottom surface. The color scheme, balanced with the exterior pattern, gives a refined impression.
The bottom surface uses simple plain paper.
While highlighting the beauty of the pattern, the subdued tone creates a calm atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy different expressions on the front and back.
The smooth opening and closing, achieved through delicate craftsmanship, provides a pleasant experience every time you use it.
**The Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship**
The hand-dyed Washi paper used in these box cases is crafted by Yuzen Washi dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto, each piece handmade.
The deep colors and unique textures achieved through traditional techniques are captivating.
Close-up views of the patterns reveal the delicate overlapping of colors characteristic of hand-dyeing.
Subtle gradations and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each piece is carefully dyed for each print, producing depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with mere printing.
The hand-dyed Washi paper is then meticulously assembled by Kyoto box-making artisans, with each piece slightly different, adding a sense of exclusivity.
Please experience the texture and warmth created by the artisans' craftsmanship.
**The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Nanten Pattern**
*Protection from Evil - Nanten*
Nanten, introduced from China during the Heian period, has been valued as a medicinal plant to suppress coughs since ancient times.
From late autumn to early winter, it bears glossy red berries, and its name, "Nanten," is read as "difficult to turn" or "difficult to change," symbolizing the wish to "turn misfortune into fortune."
It is also believed to ward off evil spirits when placed at the entrance.
An encyclopedia from the Edo period states, "Planting Nanten prevents fires," and many households planted it in inauspicious directions as a fire prevention measure, protecting the safety of the home.
**Color Variations**
- Warm red tones
- Refreshing blue tones
Both colors are subdued yet distinctive, subtly enhancing your desk space.
*Note:* Since the patterns are cut from large sheets of paper, there may be individual differences in pattern placement. Please understand this in advance.
