About the Artist - Soujirou Fujitani (Fujitani Soujirou)
■ Biography
- Born in 1966 in Hyogo Prefecture.
- Graduated in 1989 from Osaka Designer College, PD Department.
- Worked at an illustration production company before becoming independent in 1994.
- Established S&R ILLUSTRATION in 1995.
- Became a part-time instructor at Osaka Designer College, PD Department, in 1996.
- Changed the business name from S&R to S and R (illustrations) in 2005.
- Started selling original works (Giclée prints) in 2011.
- Held first solo exhibition at Heiwa Paper Industry Paper Voice Osaka in 2012.
- Member of JAGDA (Japan Graphic Designers Association).
■ Career
- Over 23 years of experience in commercial advertising illustration, working on more than 300 illustrations for product packaging, catalogs, posters, etc.
- Primarily skilled in analog, realistic illustration techniques.
- Creates original works using analog techniques, themed around houseplants and nature, in a digital environment, emphasizing the importance of environmental issues.
About Giclée (Printmaking)
■ Giclée (also called digital lithography) is a printmaking technique that uses the latest digital technology.
- The word "Giclée" is French for "sprayed with color," referring to the process of directly spraying ink onto print paper, canvas, or other specialized papers based on digital data.
- It offers extremely high reproducibility, uses pigment inks that are highly lightfast, and is currently considered the closest technique to original artwork.
