A beauty of tradition crossing time. A high-quality lantern that conveys traditional craftsmanship to the present day.
A delicate fireproof bag made with bamboo sticks, beautifully layered with silk and paper, a sturdy and luxurious base, a finely crafted main wooden body (18mm thick), a beautifully balanced design with detailed patterns, and lanterns created by traditional artisans showcasing their respective skills.
The painting on the fireproof bag is by traditional craftsman Junichi Kato.
The fireproof bag, which exudes warmth with elegant grasses and flowers, features charming small chrysanthemums and gentians, and gives a gentle impression of kindness. It is a "Mawashi-e" design, with patterns drawn on both the front and back, allowing enjoyment from either side.
A lantern that brightens the festival decorations to warmly welcome the important deceased loved ones during the Obon festival.
The clouds and feet decorated with maki-e lacquer work,
are by the Aizu lacquerware craftsman Hiroshi Omori.
Carefully lacquered and further decorated with maki-e, the lantern has an overall elegant impression, not only on the fireproof bag pattern but throughout.
The beautiful Kanazawa-yaki style wind chimes attached to the tassels also evoke a sense of specialness.
A work produced only a few times each year, becoming a yearly tradition to display during Obon, making it a lantern with a sense of exclusivity.
