※1 What is a new obonThe first obon after the death of a loved one’s memorial period (49 days) is called "Shinbon (first obon)" (niibonn, shinbon, hatsubon).
Shinbon is the day when the spirit of the deceased first returns home. It is customary to invite a priest to recite sutras and to serve food to those gathered.

【About the product】
Rokka-tou is a lantern that allows you to enjoy creating your own patterns.
You can make a white mon-ten for the new obon and a floral patterned lantern for subsequent obon periods.
It has a simple design where you just place a resin fire bag over a wooden base. Please see the video for detailed assembly instructions.
■ Creating a white mon-ten with shadow effects on the panel
After setting the pattern panel, cover it with a Japanese paper shade to complete.
The pattern panels include three麻の葉 (hemp leaf) patterns and three 七宝 (shippo) patterns, totaling six panels that can be set along a hexagon. The way you assemble them allows you to enjoy various pattern combinations.
When lit, the shadow effects of the panels become prominent, giving an impression similar to a shade lamp. When turned off, the patterns are almost invisible.
■ Creating a floral patterned lantern with a pattern shade
You can choose from two types of pattern shades: conpeito (blue) and hanamizuki (pink). Please purchase your preferred one.
After setting the pattern shade, cover it with a Japanese paper shade to complete.
When lit, elegant floral patterns emerge through the Japanese paper. When turned off, the patterns are almost invisible.
To light the lantern, use a USB Type-C to Type-A cable (about 1 meter long) and a USB outlet.
The lantern’s switch is operated from the ON/OFF switch on the base.

【About Obon】
Obon is a ceremony to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away. It begins with the "Mukaebi" (welcoming fire) and ends with the "Okuribi" (sending fire).
Within households, lanterns are arranged as Mukaebi and Okuribi to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members. Since it is the time once a year when ancestors return, do your best to host them within your means.
Traditionally,
White lanterns for the new obonwere prepared by the family of the deceased, while
patterned obon lanterns (used annually)were generally prepared by relatives and acquaintances. However, due to recent changes in living environments, the display locations have shifted from Buddhist altars to living rooms and other spaces, leading the family of the deceased to
prepare all lanterns and obon supplies, while relatives and acquaintances tend to offer offerings (cash, incense, etc.).Additionally, the timing for starting to decorate varies by household. While decorations are typically set up from the first day of obon (13th) to the last day (16th), many start decorating gradually during the obon month (July or August) to avoid rushing on the day itself.
Hasegawa responds to various requests regarding obon offerings and ceremonies.
