A beautiful tradition that transcends time. A high-quality lantern that conveys traditional craftsmanship to the modern era.
A delicate fireproof bag made with bamboo sticks, with the beauty of light enhanced by double-layered silk and paper, sturdy and luxurious legs, finely crafted main wooden body (18mm thick), a beautifully balanced design with detailed patterns, and lanterns created by traditional artisans showcasing their respective skills.
The painting on the fireproof bag is by traditional craftsman Junichi Kato.
The fireproof bag, which exudes warmth with elegant floral motifs, features charming small chrysanthemums and gentians, and gives a gentle impression of kindness. It is a "Mawashi-e" design, with illustrations on both the front and back, allowing enjoyment from either side.
This lantern is designed to brightly enhance the Bon festival decorations, welcoming important ancestors in a lively manner.
The clouds and legs with maki-e (sprinkled lacquer) are by
Aizu lacquerware artisan Hiroshi Omori.
He carefully applies lacquer to the wood and then adds maki-e. It is a lantern with an overall elegant impression, not only in the pattern on the fireproof bag but throughout.
The beautiful Kanazuki-style tassel with Kutani ware is also included, giving a sense of exclusivity.
A work produced only a few times each year, it has become a yearly tradition to display it during the Bon festival, making it a special lantern with a sense of rarity.
