The HP Shad Tail 2.5in was developed as a small shad tail worm capable of handling various rigs, with the primary premise of enabling both steady retrieve and shaking. It can generate powerful vibrations and water displacement, which are often lacking in shad tail worms of this size, regardless of retrieve speed, from slow to fast.
When used with a steady retrieve in no-sinker (offset hook #2-#3) or jig head rigs, it produces a strong wobbling action that shakes the head. With shaking action in drop shot or neko rigs, the tail vibrates powerfully and pushes water in response to rod work. It is also compatible as a trailer for Carolina rigs and small rubber jigs.
Even with the lightest class of weights such as 0.4g Synchro, it reliably wags its tail during free fall. A noteworthy application is the neko rig using a 2.2g nail sinker. While swimming with a sinker of around 0.3g is effective, a secret technique called "reaction neko rig" can be employed by using a 2.2g sinker for a rapid fall.
