The HP Shad Tail 2.5 inch was developed with the primary goal of enabling both steady retrieve and shaking actions, while being compatible with various rigs, as a small shad tail worm. It generates powerful vibrations and water displacement, which are often lacking in shad tail worms of this size, regardless of retrieve speed, from slow to fast.
When used with a steady retrieve on a no-sinker rig (offset hook #2~#3) or jig head rig, it produces a strong wobbling action that shakes the head. During shaking actions with a drop shot or neko rig, the tail vibrates powerfully and pushes water in response to rod work. It is also compatible as a trailer for Carolina rigs and small rubber jigs. Even with the lightest class of weights such as 1.2g of O.S.P. Synchro 04, it reliably wags its tail during free fall.
A notable application is the neko rig using a 2.2g nail sinker. While swimming with a sinker of about 0.3g is effective, a secret technique called "reaction neko rig" can be employed by using a 2.2g sinker for a rapid fall.
