We had the option to renew the mold with the same design as the original Ashura. However, we chose a different design approach to increase catch rates and further enhance its value by incorporating our accumulated development know-how and specifications that are more adjusted to modern bass.
By changing the lip, we made the slight fluttering during fast retrieves more natural, and achieved sharp jerks that include a momentary pause to generate instantaneous speed.
The original rear-inserted lip had a forward-leaning posture caused by the weight of the lip entering the body, which was structurally necessary, and the surrounding material holding it. Furthermore, the strong eye-tuning due to the left-right misalignment of the lip, caused by the necessary left-right clearance during manufacturing, has been improved. With an integrated lip that has been meticulously set, straight-line stability is enhanced, and the floating posture is closer to horizontal.
The fixed weight has also been changed from a spherical ball to a low-center-of-gravity plate-shaped weight, improving stability during steady retrieves and the recovery power from rolls. The hooks have been changed from heavy wire to regular wire to address short bites.
Ashura II inherits the high performance of the original while overwriting it with new performance to catch modern bass, achieving further evolution.
