Tosa Uchihamono (Traditional Warikomi Method)
One of the characteristics of blades known as "Tosa Uchihamono" is that they are called thick blades and have historically focused on producing axes, hatchets, and saws primarily for mountain work. For this reason, many Tosa Uchihamono have spread throughout forestry areas nationwide and have been used as tools in the field. The sincere dedication to working with iron over many years has become a traditional craft, and the tools, each imbued with the maker's spirit, are passed down by current blacksmiths.
Traditional Warikomi Method
This traditional method involves sandwiching steel within soft iron and forge-welding them using borax, resulting in a sharp blade that also lasts long. The steel used is Shirogami steel from Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, which is also used for Japanese swords and kitchen knives.
Handle
Made from Kyushu-grown oak, known for its strength and beautiful wood grain. A gentle curve has been added to the grip end where force is applied during impact, blending functionality and aesthetics.
