■小田急5000形の後期生産形は側面窓が9000形に準じた1段降下窓にマイナーチェンジされたため、5200形とも呼ばれてます。千代田線乗り入れに備えて専用の9000形の生産が優先されて当時増備が進んでいた本線専任の5000形の生産を中止、昭和52年に9000形の生産が落ち着くと5000形の生産が再開するにあたり、9000形で採用された1段降下窓を取り入れ、6両編成となり4両編成と連結しての10両運転を視野に入れた車両が5200形となります。9000形は当時新鋭技術であった界磁チョッパ制御を採用したにも関わらず9000形より一世代前の抵抗制御の5000形生産再開したのは在来の5000形や2600形との連結を優先したためと9000形が地下鉄特化形のスペックで地上用で増備するにはオーバースペックだったためと言われています。昭和57年まで増備され、以降の増備は地上用に再設計された界磁チョッパ制御車8000形にバトンを渡すことになります
