■ The 2600 series was the first Odakyu "new performance" train to adopt a 20-meter car body. While the 1800 series already had 20-meter cars, these were Type 63 trains allocated from JNR during the post-war vehicle shortage and were not original Odakyu vehicles. However, with operational experience gained from the 20-meter cars of the 1800 series, the 2600 series was introduced to increase passenger capacity, following the 2400 series, and to complement it. From then on, Odakyu manufactured trains up to the 5200 series with largely the same car body as the 2600 series, with the exception of the 9000 series which was designed for Chiyoda Line compatibility.
