JYP's representative producer JY Park dedicated himself to writing lyrics for an ITZY-style love song. The lyrics, such as "I want you, because I'm not shy," "You don't need to answer in a hurry," "It's mine anyway," and "Just look at me," openly express feelings of love. The impact was enhanced by the sense of young musicians like Kobee (Kobi), who target Generation Z, adding a strong impact sound.
JY Park explained, "This time, the focus was on fully expressing ITZY's energy. The choreography was also filled with power and beautifully completed." As he said, the performance of "Not Shy" maximizes the charm of ITZY, known as "stage craftsmen." The members also revealed that "this is the most difficult choreography among all their previous activities," suggesting a large amount of practice.
The "Not Shy" music video features scenes full of speed that make viewers' hearts race, and the perfectly synchronized group dance provides a refreshing thrill. The members put a lot of effort into this MV. It was shot over five days, aiming for near perfection. Yeji and Ryujin showed enthusiasm by obtaining driver's licenses in advance to vividly capture the car chase scenes running through rough terrain.
The new album includes six tracks: the title song "Not Shy," "Don't Give a What," "Louder," "ID," "Surf," and "Be in Love." It is surprising that all tracks are credited to top KPOP songwriters.
"Don't Give a What" is a song that was created through collaboration between lyricists Lee Seulran, who has worked with SHINee and GOT7 and showcased sensitive lyrics, and Lee Woobin (Collapsedone), who participated in TWICE's "Knock Knock" and "What Is Love?" The song features poetic lyrics that express feelings of love without hesitation.
"Surf" was composed by the lyric team "Danke," which set new records on the Billboard World Chart and Spotify Streaming Chart, and arranged by the highly acclaimed UK production team "LDN Noise."
KPOP's "hit-making machine" Kenzie, who is known for her support to the hottest songwriters like MosPick and YoungChance, was responsible for the lyrics and composition of the final track "Be in Love." This element of strong support from top-tier creators is also noteworthy.
The debut song "Dalla Dalla"'s music video surpassed 200 million views on YouTube in June, making ITZY a group with over 200 million views on their music videos within 1 year and 4 months of debut.
