A chopstick rest with a tasteful design has been created using the same materials and manufacturing methods as the traditional "Sekishu-gawara" (Sekishu tile) from the Iwami region of Shimane Prefecture, featuring the character horse of Nishiki Miso.
"Sekishu-gawara" are clay tiles that have been produced in the Iwami region of Shimane Prefecture since the Edo period. They are resistant to frost and salt damage and are considered one of Japan's three major types of tiles. Kameya Kogyo, located in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, which is responsible for manufacturing these chopstick rests, has been producing beautiful and durable Sekishu-gawara based on traditional techniques for 200 years since its founding.
They have a simple and timeless texture, and like Sekishu-gawara, they are sturdy and long-lasting. They are also dishwasher safe.
Three types of glazes have been used, resulting in chopstick rests with distinct characteristics. Please keep your favorite at your dining table.
■ Sabi (Rust)This has a simple, unglazed texture with a slightly rough feel. It is the brightest color among the three types.
■ Oribe (Green)This has a slightly greenish, glossy finish with a smooth texture.
■ Kimachi (Bronze)This has a substantial bronze color with a matte luster. It has a smooth texture.
* Due to the handmade nature of the product, there may be individual differences in the finish.* The actual product color may appear slightly different from the images depending on your monitor environment.
