Product Information
Name: Nishijin Sanroku-kan 2-Tatami Mat, 182×182cm
Size: 182×182cm
Material: Igusa (from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture)※ The edge is made of polypropylene and polyethylene woven yarns
Other Details:Country of Origin: Japan (Purely domestic production)Thickness: approximately 2mmWashing Instructions: Not washable
Description:This is a tatami mat top made from 100% Igusa grown with reduced pesticide use in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture.Features include:- Superior durability and elasticity compared to regular Igusa, with longer-lasting green color.- Even after sun exposure and fading, it gradually changes to a beautiful amber color.- It has the ability to absorb nitrogen dioxide, which is a cause of air pollution, and also works excellently to regulate room humidity.
Simply laying this mat can refresh your tatami room.It is suitable for refreshing sun-faded tatami or as a cover to prevent soiling of new tatami.
The product uses domestically produced Igusa (from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture), with a length of over 130cm, which is classified as JAS 1 (a high-grade class among tatami mats).Carefully selected high-quality, thick, and long Igusa is woven densely, making it durable and providing a comfortable volume for the skin.Approximately 85cm of the 130cm length is used.
This is a high-quality product made with long Igusa that has minimal white parts at the edges (the white parts are the base and tip colors of the Igusa, not sunburn).Longer Igusa is considered more luxurious. The Igusa has a reddish-brown tip, a white base, and a blue (green) middle.Using more of the high-quality blue middle part results in a sturdy and beautiful finish.
While Igusa naturally develops a sun-tanned appearance over time, those with more of the blue middle section tend to tan evenly and attractively, developing a rich patina.
This product is woven using the same weaving method as tatami mats, called yarn-drawn weaving.Compared to double-twisted weaving, it contains more Igusa threads, making it more durable. The surface is smooth, which makes it less likely to accumulate dust.
For those who want long-lasting use or seek durability, yarn-drawn weaving is recommended.
Made from domestically produced Igusa (from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture).Japanese-grown Igusa has thicker stalks, a thicker epidermis, and finer fibers, providing excellent elasticity and durability.
Igusa also has air purification and humidity regulation properties and is less prone to dirt accumulation.
The surface has been processed with "Hiba Essence" extracted from Hiba wood from Aomori Prefecture, using the manufacturer's proprietary technology.Hiba Essence contains Hinokiol, a natural substance with extremely high antibacterial properties.(Compared to untreated products, it offers enhanced antibacterial and deodorizing effects.)
Both sides of the mat can be used, making it economical.
*Please note that as a natural material and handcrafted by artisans, there may be slight variations in shape and size from the specified dimensions. Thank you for your understanding.*
