Nishijin Handwoven "Tsumazuri Hon Tsuzure-ori" "Kotobuki Matsu"Product Description: This is a framed artwork made using the traditional weaving technique "Nishijin Tsumazuri Hon Tsuzure-ori," which has been passed down since ancient Japan.
Design Description: In China, pine trees are revered as one of the "Three Friends of Winter," sacred trees associated with longevity and eternal youth. Pines are considered trees that await the gods and serve as sacred trees, revered as divine trees. The New Year’s kadomatsu (gate pine) symbolizes the gods descending there and waiting to bestow blessings for the year, representing "Good Fortune and Longevity."
This framed piece is produced by Ishikawa Tsuzure Co., Ltd., a company founded in 1928 (93 years ago) in Japan, using the traditional Nishijin Tsuzure weaving technique. It bears the "certification label" from the Nishijin Weaving Industry Association.
The "Nishijin handwoven Tsumazuri Hon Tsuzure" is increasingly rare each year. As a prestigious weaving house with a history of supplying to the Imperial Household, Ishikawa Tsuzure presents this rare, handwoven Nishijin Tsuzure artwork. If it catches your eye, please do not miss this opportunity!
Tsumazuri Hon Tsuzure-ori is a highly labor-intensive textile, often called the "pinnacle of hand weaving." Its dignified appearance, created by densely weaving fine threads, produces a matte and beautiful expression. The weaving is done by pulling and shaping each color gradually with a scraper-like tool, creating intricate patterns.
The delicacy of this process and the craftsmanship of the weaver evoke a sense of awe. The weavers use a file on their fingernails, carving them like saw teeth. When weaving patterns, they insert the design under the warp threads, view the pattern through the warp, and use a shuttle to catch the weft threads, weaving them in. They then use the carved nails to pull each weft thread, incorporating the design with their sensibility, and solidify the pattern with a comb called "susitate."
Unlike automatic looms that pull up the warp threads for each row, this work involves weaving each color while referencing the design. The abstract patterns woven are uniquely creative and full of artistic sense. If you find this appealing, we hope you will consider it. Please do not miss this opportunity!
This framed artwork can be widely used as interior decoration in homes, restaurants, shops, and various other places. Since it uses Japanese Nishijin weaving, it can also be enjoyed as a collectible item.
