The D500 achieves approximately 10 fps with high-speed readout of the image sensor, high processing power of the new EXPEED 5 engine, and a redesigned mirror sequence. The fast response time of about 0.050 seconds shutter lag allows capturing decisive moments more effectively

Moreover, with increased buffer memory, continuous shooting is possible up to 200 frames in both JPEG and 14-bit lossless compressed RAW, enabling capturing the best moments

3.2-inch tilting high-resolution monitor with approximately 2.36 million dots and touch panel

As a top-tier model, D500 enhances ease of use and mobility for DX format models by adopting a touch panel on the rear monitor similar to the D5. Features include touch AF, touch shutter during still image shooting, quick image switching using frame advance bar during playback, and text input such as copyright info. The monitor can tilt freely at wide angles up and down thanks to a 3-axis hinge structure. When tilted upward, it is not obstructed by the viewfinder eyepiece; downward tilt allows smooth operation even when mounted on a tripod, increasing freedom of angles for still and video shooting. The 2.36 million-dot display provides extremely clear images even in magnified view, allowing detailed confirmation of subjects and images. The color tone of the monitor can be customized to match the PC monitor used for editing.

Supports high-speed data transfer memory cards with dual slots

The D500 supports two media types: UHS-II compliant SD cards and XQD cards. Both support fast write speeds, enabling smooth continuous shooting. You can insert one of each for sequential recording, backup recording, or split recording (RAW+JPEG), and efficiently record images. It is also possible to copy images between cards. During video recording, you can specify a card with sufficient free space as the recording destination.
