About the Author
Takashi Todokoro
Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1948. After serving as Assistant, Associate Professor, and Professor in the Department of Geography at Ritsumeikan University from 1974 to 1996, he became a Professor at the Faculty of Regional Policy, Takasaki City University of Economics in 1996, and an Emeritus Professor in 2014. In 2021, he became a Specially Appointed Professor at the Graduate School of Business Administration, JIGYO SOZO UNIVERSITY. Doctor of Literature.
During this period, he served in various capacities, including as a Research Liaison Committee Member and Corresponding Member of the Science Council of Japan, President of the Urban Studies Association of Japan, President of the Association of Japanese Geographers, Vice President of the Japan Association for Regional Policy Studies, and as a specialist committee member for the National Council for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation, the National Land Council for Relocation of the Diet and Government, and the Economic Council. He currently serves as Chairman of the Gunma Prefectural Cultural Property Protection Council and Chairman of the National Land Utilization Planning Council, Chairman of the Tomioka City Landscape Creation Council, and Auditor of the Japan Map Centre.
His major works include "The Three-Dimensionalization of Urban Space," "Commercial Modernization and Cities," "Introduction to Regional Policy Studies," "Municipal Mergers for Regional Sovereignty," "Tourism Town Development Utilizing Everyday Spaces," and "Compact Town Development for Walking Lifestyles" (Kokon Shoin), and "Regeneration and Creation of Tourist Villages" (Kaiseisha).
