"Top Secret Documents" related to the historic event, the "February 26 Incident," have been discovered. This documentary delves into the "shocking full picture" with new facts, including the Emperor's unknown remarks and the unknown actions of young officers.
What we knew was merely a fragment of the "truth."
On February 26, 1936, the "February 26 Incident" occurred, where the Prime Minister and ministers were attacked in the heart of the capital, Tokyo. "Top Secret Documents" recording the full details of this largest military coup in modern Japanese history were discovered in 2019. Until now, the only official documents concerning the incident were materials from the Army Court Martial compiled after the event, leaving much of the incident shrouded in mystery.
However, 83 years after the incident, "Top Secret Documents" recorded by the Navy during the incident itself were found. These documents detail the tense "four days" from the first report of the incident to its conclusion, recorded minute by minute.
New facts revealed include the schemes being secretly pursued by the Army high command, the fact that the Navy and Army were on alert and "on the brink of civil war," and the Emperor's previously undisclosed actions. Experts who analyzed the documents were stunned by the number of "new facts" they contained.
After the February 26 Incident, the military's power expanded, and Japan plunged into war.
This documentary deciphers the newly discovered top-secret documents to approach the full scope of this historic event, which threw Tokyo into chaos and became a turning point that decided the fate of the nation.
