In the villages along Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, there is a traditional way of life deeply intertwined with water. Canals crisscross the settlements, and people have utilized this abundant water for their livelihoods. The creatures that inhabit these waterways are also closely connected to human life. From the "mondori" fishing for carp that heralds spring, to the making of "yoshizu" (reed screens) in early summer, the dragonfly that silently emerges by the water's edge, the reed cutting in late autumn, and the coming of winter... this is a vibrant water village where humans and nature weave together the tapestry of life.

This is the second installment in a series, featuring exquisite visual poetry captured over nearly two years with high-definition cameras, with a focus on picture and sound, now released on Blu-ray Disc.
