・Yasuki Shimizu (Yasuaki Shimizu)
Composer, saxophone player, music producer.
He has released about 40 albums so far. Notably, in the 1980s, his releases "Scarecrow" and the experimental rock band Maria's "Ephemeral Days" attracted attention mainly among young generations in Europe and America, leading to reissues of past works. In the late 1990s, under the name Saxophonets, he received high praise for his interpretation of Bach's "Unaccompanied Cello Suites" on tenor saxophone in the album "Cello Sweets." Following that, in 2006, he released "Pentatonica," an album of original five-tone scale works contrasting Western music and counterpoint. He also provides songs and produces for various artists across genres, and is known for his work on music for visual media.
His works for NHK TV dramas include "Mi o Tsukushi Ryori Chō" (2017), "Transparent Lily" (2018), and "About the Crisis Here and My Favorability" (2021).
The American film "Cutie & Brawler" (2013), which was nominated for the 86th Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, earned him the Original Score Award at the 7th Cinema i-Ons.
His latest work is the film "Senya, Ichiya" directed by Naoto Kubota, scheduled for nationwide release from October 7.
