★★ Comments on "SPLASH!!!" (composed and performed with Skima Switch) ★★Chisako Takashima:I have been a big fan for a long time, and finally my wish came true last summer when I performed together at a concert. Since then, I have hoped to have the opportunity to write something wonderful.Many of Skima Switch’s songs suit string instruments very well, and I thought perhaps they would be a good fit for 12 violinists. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the formation of the 12 violinists, so I asked them on a whim to collaborate, and they kindly agreed. Thank you very much. When I received the demo tape of the song, I thought it was the perfect Skima! Super Skima! I loved it.The recording was also wonderful and fun. I felt as if I had joined the Skima members (laughs). It’s a lively piece that becomes more fun the more you play, and it lifts your spirits. The instruments also happily produced sound as I played. As I approached my son’s graduation ceremony and thought about him entering elementary school, I played it. I would be happy if I could perform with Skima Switch again somewhere.
Takuya Ohashi & Shintaro Tsuda (Skima Switch):Since it was also a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the 12 violinists, we thought a new start with a song that evokes a sense of rising towards the future would be good, and we created it as a brisk, refreshing piece.The interesting thing about instrumental music is that there are no breath pauses, which is different from vocal music, and I wanted to express that, so I thought about the melody, which ended up being somewhat flamboyant. We also wanted to make good use of the characteristics of the violin, which is why it took this form.The title was chosen because the dynamic arrangement evokes the image of "bursting" or "flying apart," and the feeling of the start of summer, with droplets splashing, seemed fitting. The three exclamation marks represent energy and also symbolize the three members—Ms. Takashima and Skima Switch—hence the number.
