マーチン,Jr.,ビル
1916年アメリカのカンザス州生まれ。カンザス州立教員養成大学卒業、ノースウェスタン大学哲学科博士号取得。高校教師・小学校校長・大学の客員教授などを経たのち、幼児・児童の読書指導をする教員・図書館員の育成に尽力する。絵本作家・詩人としても活躍し、『くまさんくまさんなにみてるの?』など、数々のベストセラーを生みだした。2004年逝去
カール,エリック
1929年アメリカのニューヨーク州に生まれ、ドイツで育つ。シュツットガルトの造形美術大学を卒業後、アメリカにもどり、グラフィックデザイナーとなる。1968年に絵本『1、2、3どうぶつえんへ』(ボローニャ国際児童図書展グラフィック大賞)を発表して以来、世界的な絵本作家として活躍。2002年エリック・カール絵本美術館を開館。また長年にわたる児童書への貢献により、2003年ローラ・インガルス・ワイルダー賞を受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)
