About the artists
Shigetoshi Kudo, Flute. Started flute lessons at age 10 under Nobuhiro Sasaki, and studied under Soichi Minegishi at Toho Gakuen School of Music. At the Paris Conservatory, studied under J.P. Rampal and graduated with first prize in January 1979. Won the 2nd Paris International Flute Competition held in 1978 the previous year. Received the “French Soloist Association Award.” Also, won the first J.P. Rampal International Flute Competition held in 1980, and received the “President of the French Republic Award,” gaining widespread attention. Performed in over 180 cities across Europe and beyond, collaborating with orchestras such as the Paris Chamber Orchestra, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and Vienna Chamber Orchestra, among others, totaling over 30 collaborations, including with international artists like H. Stein, Seiji Ozawa, S. Bishkov, and Penderecki. Active in recording, with over 60 CDs released domestically and internationally. Also dedicated to education, conducting master classes in cities such as Boston, New York, Washington, Seoul, Shanghai, and in Japan. Since 1983, has served as a judge for international competitions including Rampal, Kobe, and Carl Nielsen. Currently a professor at École Normale de Musique in Paris and a visiting professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Kazuko Shinozaki, Harp. Graduated with a unanimous gold medal from Toho Gakuen University and the Nice Conservatory. In 1992, won the Young Division of the 4th Japan Harp Competition. In 1993, placed 2nd in the Junior Division of the 1st Lily Laskine International Harp Competition. In 1997, placed 2nd in the Professional Division of the 9th Japan Harp Competition. In 1998, won 1st place in the advanced division of the UFAM International Music Competition for harp. In 2004, received the Vanderbilt Music Company Award at the 6th USA International Harp Competition. In 2006, awarded the Encouragement Prize in the Western Music Division of the 36th ExxonMobil Music Award. In 2009, received the 19th Idemitsu Music Award. Studied in France for two years as an artist dispatched by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Since returning to Japan in 2004, has been active in collaborations with major domestic orchestras and recitals. Studied under her mother, Fumiko Shinozaki, as well as J. Molnar, M.-C. Jame, M. Viome, I. Moretti, and G. Lorenzini.
