モビルスーツ同士による2対2のチームバトルが楽しめるアクションゲーム。本作は、2004年夏にリリースされたアーケード版『機動戦士Zガンダム エゥーゴvs.ティターンズDX』のゲームシステムをベースに、シリーズ初登場のモビルスーツや多彩なゲームモードを収録している。
宇宙世紀モードでは、プレイヤーは選んだ陣営のパイロットとなって、「機動戦士ガンダム」と「機動戦士Zガンダム」の年表に沿ったステージにチャレンジ。結果によっては、アニメのストーリとは異なる展開が用意されており、もし1年戦争でララァが死ななかったら、といったifストーリーが体験できる。
ゲームに登場するモビルスーツは、「機動戦士ガンダム」と「機動戦士Zガンダム」の両作品に登場した機体が含まれており、変形可能なタイプやモビルアーマーも参戦する。
