MJLenderman & Wednesday / GUTTERING (TAPE)
The collaborative EP "Guttering," which can be considered a foundational work, is once again gaining renewed attention! Released in 2021 by TAGABOW's Douglas Dargalian through the new label "Julia’s War Recordings," the cassette EP "Guttering" is a valuable collaboration work between the then-unknown MJLenderman and Wednesday. At the time, Stereogum highly praised it as "a self-recorded work packed with both artists'魅力."
Just a few years later, Wednesday broke through with their 2023 release "Rat Saw God" from Dead Oceans, and MJLenderman quickly rose to prominence in the indie rock scene with "Manning Fireworks" released in 2024 from Anti. Both artists have now become leading figures in the scene.
Amidst this, "Guttering" is being re-examined as a work capturing the brilliance of "when the world did not yet know them." It is a piece that proves the seeds of their current success were indeed present, holding documentary value.
This work is a cassette tape.
