The automatic lead rotation mechanism in the "Advance" is equipped with a "W Speed Engine" that uses a 20-tooth gear, rotating twice as fast, to rotate the lead once every 20 strokes.
By changing the gear of this automatic lead rotation mechanism, it is now possible to continue writing with a line width that is approximately 12% finer with HB lead and approximately 17% finer with 2B lead. (When using the same 0.5mm lead)
Even with characters that have few strokes and long individual strokes (such as kana or English letters), which tend to cause uneven wear on the lead tip of a regular mechanical pencil where the lead does not rotate, it is possible to write with uniform lines.
Furthermore, when using soft leads such as 2B, which write darkly, the characters will not become smudged compared to a regular mechanical pencil.
