Opal refers to a general term for relatively low-hardness minerals such as limestone (calcite), glassy limestone (opal), and pyroxene, which are gray to white in color.
This time, we are delivering synthetic opal, not natural raw stone.
Synthetic opals are made through a different process than their formation in nature, but their appearance, composition, and properties are almost the same as natural opals.
Because there are fewer impurities, they are more transparent and have a more uniform quality than natural opals.
They are also processed into gemstones and jewelry, but because they have less rarity value compared to natural opals, they are sold at reasonable prices.
The Mohs hardness of opal is relatively low, estimated to be about 5.5 to 6.5.
Although they look quite hard due to their glassy luster, they are surprisingly not that hard.
It is thought to be relatively easy to process them into gemstones using a polishing machine.
Opal with few impurities, milky white and highly transparent, is called 'common opal'.
Although it can be mined in Japan in some parts of Fukushima, Toyama, Ishikawa, and Aichi prefectures, the production volume is extremely small.
Since these are cracked opals, they are irregular in size.
The color is generally consistent, but occasionally impurities may be mixed in.
The images are taken with bright lighting, but they may appear slightly dull in everyday lighting conditions.
This is raw stone, not a gemstone.
Please understand these points before purchasing.
You might want to try processing it into a gemstone using a natural stone polishing machine.
