MeishiSmile is the emotional electronic project of Fay, an American producer and visual artist influenced by pop and experimental genres such as Anamanaguchi, Chrome Sparks, Craft Spells, Kero Kero Bonito, Perfume, and tofubeats.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the release of their debut album "LUST" in 2014, which was released on their own "digital punk" label ZOOMLENS, a clear vinyl and CD reissue is now available!
MeishiSmile's debut album "LUST" aims to explore the cycle of human emotional wounds.
It poses existential questions about what it feels like to experience guilt, love, and loss. This work, while sentimental, is relentlessly sad, struggling to find acceptance and salvation within realized chaos.
Even after 10 years, the influence of "LUST" is highly regarded.
Recognized as a catalyst for a new generation of internet producers and mainstream pop music, the online magazine The Line of Best Fit retrospectively honored it as "the #1 hyperpop album of all time."
The album features a total of 8 tracks, including the anthemic numbers "AJS" and "PALE," which are still talked about today; "STILL," where synthesizers paint a dreamlike soundscape like an aurora; "SUMMERBLUE," a hyperpop track inspired by J-POP artists like Capsule and Perfume; and the chip-tune "HEART" with its emotional melody.
This reissue features new artwork and is a limited release on transparent clear vinyl and CD, including a retrospective essay by music critic Noah Simon.
