MEGUMIACORDA/SILVERFAIRY(LP)
The masterpiece 1st album by Megumi Acorda, digitally released in March 2023, is now available on analog LP! This dream pop band is centered around Megumi Acorda, who is Filipino and from Japan, and currently performs as a 5-piece band.
With their 1st EP "Unexpectedly," released in 2018, they gained a growing fanbase not only in their home country but also worldwide. In 2020, the EP was released on cassette tape by the indie label Genjitsu Stargazing Society in Manila, Philippines. In 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, they released "Unexpectedly (quarantine session)," but new releases had been long-awaited. With Megumi's charismatic and cool presence, their live performances in their home country draw enthusiastic fans, appearing to be on the verge of a major breakthrough.
Breaking the silence, they released the digital single "Feverfew" in January 2023, followed by "You Forgot to Say Goodbye" in February.
In March 2023, the 8-track album "Silver Fairy," featuring "Feverfew," was released.
This work further allows listeners to enjoy the powerful songwriting and the gentle yet fiery, three-dimensional band arrangements.
The album opens with the dreamlike A1 "Dream Sequence," featuring piano and sound effects, followed by A2 "Tomorrow," a standout track that carries over the chord progression and is considered the album's best. A3 "If They Come" is a downbeat guitar rock song that has become a live staple. A4 "Borrowed/Burrowed" is an indie rock track that develops with a tight rhythm that gradually picks up speed. B1 "Feverfew" is an epic-scale song where Megumi's beautiful vocals blend with roaring guitars. B2 "Nothing/Forgotten" is an indie rock track with a strong groove.
"Silver Fairy" fuses the intoxicating feel of slowcore bands like Duster and Ida with shoegaze, grunge, and emo. This is undoubtedly a work that will represent the dream pop of the Z generation not only in Asia but on a global level.
