2016年に没後100周年の記念年を迎えるマックス・レーガー(1873-1916)。いくつかのレーベルが彼のオルガン作品の全集録音を目論んでいますが、「オルガンと言えばcpo! 」ということで、cpoではJ.S.バッハの全集でお馴染みの名手ヴァインベルガーをフィーチャーして、レーガー全集を始動しました。レーガー作品は、もちろんバッハの形式を厳格に継承した上で、ロマン派的な和声を、雄弁な表現力を上乗せしたもので、曲に用いられている対位法は想像を絶するほどに緻密であり、また音楽的にも(渋いとはいえ)極めて優れたものであることは間違いありません。そのうえ、この録音はSACDハイブリッド盤で発売というのも嬉しいところ。レーガーが活躍した時代に建立されたふくよかなオルガンの響きを、余すことなくとらえた素晴らしいアルバムの登場です。
