Just to get things straight, this is a 1999 rerecording of Lalo Schifrin's classic score to the hard-hitting 60's TV series Mannix, not a reissue of the original LP. That said, Schifrin's recreations of the original cues for the classic action show shine, and he does a great job of conjuring up that classic '60s-soundtrack ambience. In addition to the 11 tracks from the original 1969 record, there are several new songs here. Although a few tracks verge on that dreaded '90s "smooth jazz" sound, when weighed against the rest of the album, these are forgivable.
