ダース・ベイダーはもともと日本の甲冑(かっちゅう)をモチーフにデザインされたとも言われており、今回のモデルは、いわばデザインを逆輸入するという考えをもとに、甲冑飾りの手法を用いて製作したものです。
風格漂わすダース・ベイダーに陣羽織風の衣裳を着せ、存在感ある武者人形に仕上げた「ダース・ベイダー武者人形」。マスクにあたる面頬(めんぽう)、そして銀河帝国軍のシンボルマーク部分をデザインした前立(まえだて)は、特撮ヒーローなどのフィギュア原型を多数手がける造形作家・竹谷隆之氏によるものです。ダース・ベイダーのライトセーバーをイメージして作られた刀など、細部に至るまで、すべてが熟達した職人による伝統的な手法により作られています。
