＜What is Kyoto Black Mon-tsuki Dyeing＞
This technique has been designated as a traditional craft by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry since 1979. It has a history of approximately 1,000 years dating back to the 10th century. It is a silk dyeing technique used to dye black for formal wear such as black tomesode worn at celebrations and mourning clothes worn at funerals, mainly produced in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is also worn as the first formal attire for traditional arts such as kabuki, noh, geisha in Gion, and sumo wrestling, among other ceremonial occasions.

＜Features of Kyoto Black Mon-tsuki Dyeing＞
It is characterized by a deep, elegant, high-quality black color. This product is a pioneering example of Kyoto Black Mon-tsuki Dyeing, commissioned from Kyoto Mon-tsuki Co., Ltd., which developed a special technique called "Shinkuro Processing" (Deep Black Processing). This technique involves applying a special dye to fibers to suppress light reflection and absorb light, thereby accentuating the black color.

【Product Details】
This is a T-shirt with Kyoto Black Mon-tsuki Dyeing by SOME-ISM. It features a traditional, deep, elegant, high-quality black color, combined with water repellency and a silk-like texture. The T-shirt body is manufactured at a long-established factory in Tokyo with over 80 years of history. It uses a seamless round-body design without side seams. Additionally, the cuffs and hem employ a flatlock stitch reminiscent of vintage T-shirts. The dyeing is carefully performed by Kyoto's Kyoto Mon-tsuki artisans. Thanks to the Shinkuro Processing, the black color has a subdued shine, creating a deep, refined, and luxurious black T-shirt.
